The Ilwis.3 environment was used to carry out the analyses and to identify and display the Groundwater regions that are sensitive to nitrate pollution Potential as a result of non-point pollutant sources. The model used in this study was DRASTIC. This model developed for the U.S. Environmental protection Agency in 1987. The model generates an index or Score of Groundwater pollution Potential, which ranges from 23 to 230, with higher numbers representing higher pollution Potential.Since Ground water is one of the most important natural resources in Shiraz city, our efforts were aimed at indicating where this resource was most susceptible, likewise, least susceptible environmental degradation. Results of the GIS modeling have shown that for areas of known aquifers, almost 85% have scores less than 110 in terms of their susceptibility to contamination (low stage) from industrial, municipal and agricultural sources, and 15% have scores within110- 170 in terms of Potential scores, (high stage).
